I am an Associate Professor at the "Petru Maior" University of Tg. Mures, Romania. My research interests are: critical infrastructure protection (e.g., power plants, water plants, and the future electricity grid - Smart Grid), anomaly detection systems, and network security in general.

I have been awarded the prestigious Marie Curie Career Integration Grant (48 months). The research under this grant will focus on developing novel techniques for secure and resilient design of critical infrastructures.

The paper on network segmentation for resilient SCADA systems was accepted in Computers & Electrical Engineering, Elsevier.

October 15th, 2013

The paper documenting in detail our experience with EPIC was accepted for publication in IEEE Transactions on Emerging Topics in Computing. The paper is co-authored by my former colleagues from the JRC.

September 6th, 2013

Together with my colleagues from NIS lab - JRC, Ispra, Italy, we have launched AMICI on SourceForge. "AMICI enables the real-time execution of physical process models developed in Matlab Simulink, in a way that they can interact with real cyber systems."

We have released as open-source the software for anomaly detection in SCADA systems. The software automatically configures Snort to detect traffic anomalies based on connection patterns.
